Japanese display maker has just introduced two new monitors that feature a fast response time and a novel image improvement technology. The new products have 23.6” and 27” diagonal sizes and also boast a modest power consumption.

For those that were expecting an IPS panel or at least a VA derivative, the new models will be a disappointment as they both feature a TN matrix.

This is to be expected when we talk about very fast response time values such as 1 ms or 2 ms.

These are gray-to-gray values and this pseudo standard is a bit less demanding than the official black-white-black measurement system, but the value are nevertheless impressive.

The 23” model is officially called E2473HS while the 27” one is baptized E2773HS.

Both displays feature the standard 1920 by 1080 pixel FullHD resolution, but only the 27” one is rated at 1ms.

The E2773HS also comes with a decent 300 cd/sqm brightness and a good 1200 to 1 contrast ratio. The dynamic contrast ratio is rated at a high 5 million to 1 and that’s easily achievable on a LED backlit panel.

Both monitors sport the Iiyama proprietary X-Res technology that allegedly enhances blurry images and text and the strength of the corrections can also be adjusted from “soft” to “hard.”

We don’t really know how this works, the company is not really sharing detailed information on the technology, but things should be much clearer once the new monitors hit the store shelves in November this year.

The 23” E2473HS is slated for $280 (218 EUR) and the 27” E2773HS will cost $331 (258 EUR).
