The “Dominique's Kouign Amann” cakes are better tasting than cronuts

New Yorkers are waiting in line for the Cronut every morning, as the delicious croissant and donut mix is still a popular fad.

The line forming in front of Dominique Ansel Bakery usually includes dozens of people who surely are not in a hurry.

The sold cakes do have a more delicious and attainable counterpart. The “Dominique's Kouign Amann” sweets can be bought by simply skipping the Cronut line.

According to accounts posted to Twitter by those witnessing the Cronut line phenomenon, there are currently two lines forming in front of the bakery.

“The #Cronut line from above in soho: this must end,” a post by user Andy Campbell reads. It includes the photo attached to this news blog.

While one is for Cronuts, the second one is for those who want to purchase anything but the treat. You can get by the people waiting in the first line by telling them that you are not interested in the Cronuts, and just want to purchase something else.

The DKAs are described on the baker's website as made out of “tender, flaky, croissant-like dough with a caramelized crunchy crust.”

Editors at Huffington Post describe them as superior in taste to the Cronuts and containing pretty much the same ingredients, so don't hesitate to check them out.

“Its insides look an awful lot like a Cronut™, don't they? That's because it's not that far off, except that it tastes 10 times better.

“It's also the best item on Ansel's menu, and even after we tasted the Cronut™ ourselves, we wonder why people aren't waiting for hours on end for the DKA. The point is, nobody is waiting for it, making you the first person in line,” the publication describes.
