Awesome racer lands in the iTunes App Store after successful Android debut

After receiving accolades on Google’s Android platform, Atomicom's racer Switch! has arrived in the iTunes App Store, where the developers hope it will gain just as much traction on iPhones and iPads, if not more.

And they should get their hopes up because Switch! is spectacularly fun and addictive!

You race around four curved tracks, or lanes, in outer space. Your goal is to travel as far as possible while avoiding the energy beams and the competing ships by timing your lane-switches correctly.

Because of the crisp graphics and smooth gameplay, as you gain speed you almost feel as if time and space themselves are bent. If Albert Einstein had an iPhone, he’d have been the first to download Switch!

Switch! is the perfect time killer. But don’t get the wrong idea. It’s not a casual time killer, but a competitive one. You’re compelled to get a higher score each time, and your hands will be itching to show it off on Game Center’s leader-boards.

There are times when you think the developers forgot they were making a racer, especially when you crash into one of the opponents, or an energy beam, and get totaled. When that happens, you have to start over again, which is pretty frustrating. But not if you manage to collect the shield power-ups that will let you smash through your competitors.

And the trancy soundtrack is just perfect for the fast paced action.

Sadly, Switch! doesn’t seem to have Multitasking support. But I’m sure a minor update will take care of this rather insignificant drawback.

All in all, the game is a must-have. Oh, and did I mention it’s completely free?

Switch! is a universal app, meaning it’s tailored for both iPhone and iPad play, and it only requires iOS 3.1.3, so everyone gets to play it. Yeah, you probably want to head over to the link below just about now.
