From $439 to $399

After probably having seen that its recently released netbook was not performing on the market as it was initially estimated it would, Lenovo decided it was a good time to lower the price tag of its S10 netbook system. The price cut isn't all that significant, but for all those users out there looking for a bargain, this could be just enough to make them show particular interest in Lenovo's version of an Intel Atom-powered netbook.

All but the red colored version of Lenovo's IdeaPad S-series of netbooks are now listed at a decent $399, a price closer to what we would normally expect from a netbook. The red version, for one reason or another, remains priced at $429, which, as a side note, comes after a $10 cut. Aside from that, you basically get the same specifications for each of the differently colored models, so it's only up to you to decide if spending a few extra bucks for the red version is an option.

The IdeaPad S10 has been designed to take advantage of Intel's highly successful Atom processor, as with most of the other netbooks on the market. It sports a 10.2-inch WSVGA widescreen display (that provides a resolution of 1024 by 600 pixels) with integrated camera. The graphics are handled by Intel's built-in GMA 950 graphics chip, while memory has been set at 512MB DDR2 667Mhz.

As far as storage goes, this 10-inch netbook can provide you with 80GB of storage space. You will also get the usual wireless 802.11 b/g connectivity and wired 10/100 Ethernet. Unfortunately, the S10 is equipped with a 3-cell battery option, which is unlikely to provide you with more than three hours of battery life.

The S10 is currently available for customization through the company's website, which is also where you can also place your order.
