A man suspected of kidnapping a teen girl from California has been found and killed in a shootout. James Lee DiMaggio was building a hideout from police in Idaho when he was found and shot.

The suspect and his victim, Hannah Anderson, were spotted near Morehead Lake, in the Boise area in Idaho.

They were located as they were getting ready to enter the wilderness. According to the Orlando Sentinel, they were seen by a horseback rider on Wednesday, August 7.

“Obviously we would have liked Mr. DiMaggio to surrender and face justice in a court of law, but that was not the case,” San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore stated, as reported by Los Angeles Times.

DiMaggio's Nissan Versa was located near a trail in the proximity of Cascade, and SWAT teams were sent out. Anderson is in “pretty good shape” as she has not been harmed during the operation.
