Since there are users that enjoy the security and performance of RAID storage setups, Icy Dock went ahead and created an enclosure that can configure two drives in this particular way.

What Icy Dock came up with can basically be seen as a means to perform data backup using an external storage device.

Basically, the company created an external hard disk drive enclosure that is different from most other enclosures on the market today.

For one, it can house two hard disk drives instead of just one, meaning that it already has the potential for double the maximum capacity allowed by competitors.

The second asset is that said two drives can be set up in RAID 0, RAID 1 or JBOD configurations.

Known by the name of MB662USEB-2S, it can house two 3.5-inch HDDs and, thus, measures 8.1 x 5.3 x 2.4 inches.

Said drives, once they are in place and set up in whichever of the three aforementioned modes users prefer, connect to the PC via USB 2.0, eSATA, FireWire 400 or FireWire 800.

In that order, that means that the data transfer is accomplished at 480 MB/s, 3 Gbps, 400 MB/s and 800 MB/s, respectively.

Another interesting asset is the tool-free construction, which means that the HDDs in question can be easily inserted or swapped when necessary.

Furthermore, heat is dispersed by a Quiet Sunon MAGLev Cooling Fan with Adjustable fan speed (PWM) and a diameter of 40 mm. Heat dissipation is further enhanced by the Aluminum body that the enclosure features.

Icy Dock offers a three-year warranty plan with the MB662USEB-2S and pre-orders should already be possible through online retailers, in exchange for 147.40 Euro.

Of course, those seeking to get a first-hand glimpse of all information available on the product need only stop by the official product page.
