They say Ian Somerhalder, the star of CW’s latest vampire series, “Vampire Diaries,” which has been picked up for an entire season just the other day, might not be Robert Pattinson but, if one man could even get close to that level of hotness, he would be that man. As proof of that stands the latest issue of August Man magazine, where the former model turned actor makes the most of his gorgeous features and piercing, blue eyes.

However, looking good is not all that Somerhalder is good at, as the accompanying interview reveals. He also likes to talk a lot, especially about the series that put him on the map and, as fans will know, has led to comparisons with Pattinson, admittedly the hottest, young male star of the moment. From what he says, he wouldn't change his part on “Vampire Diaries” for any other part in the world – at least, not now.

“The one I’m doing right now, actually.” Ian says when asked about the one gig that brought him the most satisfaction so far. As for the transition from modeling to acting, he says it came naturally, as he grew older. “Fashion was a ton when I was young but, not being particularly as tall as one would need to be as a model (however I did fairly well) and not particularly seeing myself doing it for any length of time beyond it being a stepping stone into film and TV. The goal was: make money as a model and sink into acting training.” the star explains.

Surprisingly enough, despite the popularity of the series in which he now appears and the fact that he’s so good looking (and the entire world knows how the paparazzi love to take pictures of good-looking celebs), there is little to be had in the media about this actor’s personal life. This is even weirder when one takes into account the fact that rumor in the industry has it that it was his take on Damon that convinced the network to pick up an entire season of “Vampire Diaries,” take that is often describes as “one part evil, one part sarcastic and all parts hot.”

This happens because Ian knows when to draw the line with the media as regards his personal life, he tells August Man. He also likes to believe, with due modesty, that his personal life can’t possibly be of interest for the paps. “It’s all very simple, actually. I’ve been left alone for the most part really. It doesn’t seem that what I do off the set is of importance to anyone!” the actor says of why his name doesn’t make headlines that often.
