External cameras aboard the international Space Station (ISS) picked up new views of the developing Hurricane Rina, which is currently located over the Caribbean Sea, east of the Belize Islands. The storm looks impressive indeed.

ISS Expedition 29 Commander Mike Fossum said that the hurricane was indeed big. Analysts agree, saying that it has the potential to cause significant damages if it makes landfall on the continental United States.

The station flew above the storm at around 2:39 pm EDT (1839 GMT) on Tuesday, October 25. Thus far, the hurricane has not produced winds traveling faster than 110 miles (177 kilometers) per hour.

At this point, the US National Hurricane Center in Miami is classifying Hurricane Rina as a Category 2 storm, but that may change. Already, NASA has canceled its NEEMO15 expedition on account of the atmospheric event, Universe Today reports.
