Officials from Vancouver, Canada-based company UrtheCast announced on Monday, January 13, that a new extravehicular activity (EVA) had been set for two Russian cosmonauts aboard the International Space Station. The spacewalk will be conducted to install two of the company's cameras on the lab.
UrtheCast has provided the two high-definition imagers to the orbital facility so that it can offer live Earth imagery and streaming to its online users. A spacewalk meant to facilitate their installation failed on December 27, 2013, when Expedition 38 crew members encountered a technical glitch.
A new EVA has now been scheduled for January 27, to be conducted by crew members Oleg Kotov and Sergey Ryazanskiy, both with the Russian Federal Space Agency (RosCosmos). The duo also carried out last year's final EVA, Space reports.
“With the ISS cabling issue now resolved, we expect that the second spacewalk will result in a complete installation. We're now confident that our business plan will remain unaffected,” company CEO Scott Larson announced on Monday.
