There are various ways to make a product stand out amongst its peers, and it would appear that In Media chose a less common way of personalizing its newest set-top box.

The Android operating system seems to be making its way to more and more electronics of different kinds.

Where once it was an operating system reserved for mobile devices like smartphones, now it is showing up in other items.

Tablets are the most obvious example and they even got their very own version of the OS not long ago, that being Android 3.0, otherwise known as Honeycomb.

Now, it seems that an older, though not by much, version of said software has landed inside the newest set-top box developed by IN Media.

As reported by Android Community, the newcomer, whose name seems to be unknown for now, is loaded with Android 2.2.

It will be able to, naturally, stream media to any TV/big screen in a household, but its functionality is broader than that.

For one, applications will be possible to run form the web straight on the TV, and one will even be able to directly stream content from an Android tablet or phone as well.

What's more, thanks to the possibility of handling digital signage tasks and public displays, even adjust them through a browser, the newcomer may find some use in the business segment as well.

Still, if anything can be seen as unusual is the support for games, not just widget creation and streaming on demand.

Unfortunately, no picture of the set-top box was given and IN Media proved to be quite non generous when it came to handing out any sort of pricing or availability details.

Until any of these pieces of information reach the web, consumers can take a look at the 7-inch tablet, slated for April release.
