You know Moog (even if you're a child, you should know what Moog is! And if you still don't then go and complain to your parents for not telling you!) You know IK Multimedia - or maybe better you'd happen to know their products such as AmpliTube, SonicTank or T-Racks. Well, it looks like the Frankfurt Musikmesse has brought another rather unexpected alliance between "vintage" and "modern", or better said, between digital and analog.

Since more and more of the contemporary music is based on sampling and digital technology which involves pre-recorded/pre-generated sound, it looks like the IK Multimedia's move towards the legendary Moog was a rather natural one.

Moog were one of the leading names in synth technology eversince they were born, once with the dawn of the electronic era, in the last century. Since then, theyr gear and even more specifically, their gear's sound has influenced, inspired and guided both artists, software creators and hardware manufacturers alike.

The new release from IK multimedia is called Sample Moog and it will be powered by Sample Tank. As IK themselves declare, the present release will not contain small and rather toyish Moog-like plugins as previously but will sport integrated sample banks covering the most major Moog synths like "Polymoogs, Memorymoogs and Taurus Pedals as well as the latest Minimoog Voyager and other synths that have never been modeled."

While this release promises to be a rather historic one, the whole volume of samples will be suitable for most kinds of music and will allow composers and artists alike to rediscover the wonderful world of Moog synths, wherever could they be needed, in rock or R&B, hip-hop or progressive, avantgarde and experimental music.

Michelle Moog, daughter of Moog company-founder Bob Moog and director of the Bob Moog Memorial Foundation for Electronic Music, spoke about this cohesion between IK Multimedia and the brand created by her father: "Dad was committed to creating tools that allowed musicians to customize their instrument's sounds and therefore give their creativity a musical voice; this product is an extension of that in the digital world. The Bob Moog Foundation is honored to be part of this tribute to the sounds and legacy of Bob Moog and is deeply grateful to Sonic Reality and IK Multimedia for their support."

Now, all we can do is wait for the new sample bank to hit the stores! Public release date and pricing are TBA.
