14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung continues its string of IFA 2011 product releases with the Series 7 Chronos notebook, a mobile personal computer that boasts FastStart and QuickBoot, so that it may always be ready to work.
The IT industry is well past the point where raw performance was enough to justify a product purchase.
Nowadays, ease of use, power efficiency and convenience, not to mention aesthetics, all play a part in users' final decision.
Samsung attempted to meet high standards in all these areas when it created the Series 7 Chronos laptop line, one which we were able to see up close at the show in Berlin, Germany.
The device comes with Max Screen, which gives it a very wide screen size, 15 inches in a 14-inch chassis, as odd as it may sound.
Also, that very display has 16 million colors, anti-reflective properties and full support for HD image quality.
In fact, the native resolution of the 15-inch (or 15.6-inch) SuperBright LED-backlit display is 1,600 x 900 pixels.
Meanwhile, the configuration relies on the might of an Intel Core 7 2675QM central processing unit, whose clock speed is 2.2 GHz and which is supplemented by the AMD Radeon HD 6750M Graphics, just in case consumers aren't satisfied with the CPU's integrated solution.
Furthermore, storage space (up to 750 GB) are brought to the equation by a HDD (hard disk drive), while 8 GB of DDR3 make sure the whole machine runs smoothly.
Nevertheless, there is only so much speed and responsiveness that hardware can provide on its own.
Fortunately, Samsung went one step further and included the QuickBoot technology, which starts the OS in 19 seconds, and the FastStart technology, which has it launch applications in two.
