Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion was one of the companies that came to IFA 2011 in Berlin, and which brought along the latest smartphones they launched on the market.

Among the devices that RIM brought along, Softpedia's editors spotted the Bold 9900, and grabbed it to take a few shots to send home.

The first Bold handset to come to the market with both a touchscreen display and with the popular QWERTY keyboard that any other handset in the series features is the one that can be admired in the photos attached to this article.

Those who came to the IFA 2011 show in Berlin had the chance to admire this phone's 2.8-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 640 x 480 pixels resolution, as well as the traditional Bold design that it sports.

What they could not see was the 1.2GHz Single core QC 8655 application processor that RIM packed inside the mobile phone, complemented by 768 MB of RAM for increased performance capabilities, but they were both there.

Moreover, the Bold 9900 smartphone came to the show with a 5 megapixels photo snapper on the back, with LED flash and support for HD video recording capabilities, as well as with various connectivity options inside.

Among these, we can count HSDPA 14.4 Mbps and HSUPA 5.76 Mbps connectivity, as well as WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, microUSB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The latest addition to RIM's Bold series features Accelerometer and Compass too, as well as GPS receiver, and microSD memory card slot to enable users to add up to 32GB of external storage space to the 8GB of memory that RIM packed the mobile phone with.

One other thing that we should note here is the fact that the hardware specs of Bold 9900 are complemented by the features that the new BlackBerry 7 OS adds into the mix, starting with the enhanced mobile browser, and going all the way to the universal search capabilities the new Bold can offer.
