We've already seen some of Philips' "handywork" for the IFA show in Berlin, but the company has much more in store for us, especially in the area of display solutions, but not necessarily restricted to it. However, for the time being, we'll stick to the "realm" of HDTVs, since, beside the Aurea II and Essence lines, described earlier, Philips has also unveiled the 9600 series of FlatTVs, the 9700 family of LCD HDTVs, as well as the LightFrame Monitor.

The new models from the 9600 FlatTV series (sizes ranging from 32 inches to 47 inches) offer users full HD, 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and benefit from the image processing features offered by the new second generation Perfect Pixel HD Engine. This processing technology includes Perfect Natural Motion (offering substantial improvements in sharpness during fast motion via the 500 million pixels of processing power), as well as a 17-bit Color Booster, which can display up to 2,250 trillion colors.

Additionally, the Perfect Contrast enhances details on both bright and dark scenes, and improves the shadow detail and black levels in dark scenes while seriously diminishing motion artifacts, which results in Dynamic Contrast ratios of up to 30,000:1 and a motion response time of two milliseconds (2ms). Furthermore, the 9600 FlatTV series also incorporates Ambilight Spectra 2 technology, for an added aesthetic effect.

Next in line comes the 9700 family of LCDs, which, according to the company, has been created especially for those users who appreciate a product's design, besides its features. The 9700 series offers a full HD LCD screen with the latest Ambilight Spectra 3 technology and all the benefits of the Perfect Pixel HD Engine. The sizes of the models from the 9700 series are also significantly larger, namely 42, 47 and 52 inches, respectively.

Now, for the LightFrame Monitor. According to Philips, this particular device is the world's first PC monitor to actually help reduce eye fatigue, due to the fact that a cool blue light is emitted from the monitor’s frame, thus offering users a greater sense of wellbeing. The 220XW9 (the official name of the Philips LightFrame) is a 22-inch widescreen LCD monitor that features Philips’ SmartImage, a response time of 2ms and 12000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, as well as an auto picture format button that enables the user to switch between widescreen and 4:3 ratios.
