IFA 2008: LG's New DVS450H DVD Player Plays HD Video, Supports DivX

Everyone's talking about high-definition and Blu-ray nowadays, but the truth of the matter is that the "classic" DVD still reigns supreme over most consumers' home entertainment systems and computers. For this reason, LG's DVS450H might actually enjoy an unexpected level of success, since it incorporates a few ingredients that should be extremely appealing for most people, namely a slim and sleek form factor, combined with advanced playback capabilities.

Quite obviously, the first thing that will draw everyone's attention to the player from LG is the external design, this special form factor even allowing users to mount it on a wall. Furthermore, the DVS450H delivers an extended level of versatility, since it allows users to watch high-definition DivX videos burned to DVDs or stored on USB flash drives.

The major advantage provided by the DivX compatibility is related to storage space. While HD video requires large amounts of memory, DivX HD video manages to maintain a high visual quality while significantly reducing the digital file size. Incorporating support for high-definition DivX video on this DVD player illustrates this in a significant way."

LG's new DVS450H is scheduled to arrive at some point in October and will retail for an estimate price tag of around 240 US dollars, which is a relatively fair price point, given the overall features this thing provides.
