A major area of improvement for the next version of Windows Phone is related to the evolution of browsing.

With the introduction of Windows Phone Mango, the first upgrade to Windows Phone 7, Microsoft will essentially push mobile browsing to the next level.

Ever since announcing Internet Explorer 9 Mobile for Windows Phone, the company’s goal has been expressed clearly: mirror the desktop browsing experience on the mobile platform.

As such, IE9 in Windows Phone Mango is designed to bring to the table many of the core enhancements that make the desktop version of Internet Explorer 9 one of the best browsers available on the market today.

Such improvements involve hardware acceleration and support for modern web standards, with a focus on HTML5.

“So far, the Internet on a phone has all been about getting the desktop browsing experience, and making that work on the phone. Well, we deliver that in “Mango” by including IE9,” revealed Andrew Lees, President, Mobile Communications Business.

In the video embedded below, the software giant provides users with a little taste of what IE9 will look like on Windows Phone Mango, and what it will allow customers to do.

“IE9 has been widely regarded as the leading desktop browser that shipped two months ago, and includes innovative capabilities like hardware acceleration of HTML5,” Lees added.

“Well, the good news is that IE9 on “Mango” is not just similar to the phone browser to the PC browser, it's exactly the same.

“This means it's great for consumers who want to have the same experience of different websites, and it's also great for Web developers. However, we wanted to go one step further. We want to be able to tailor the Internet to the palm of your hand.”

According to Microsoft Windows Phone Mango will be available to all customers with Windows Phone 7 devices later this year.

Although a specific availability deadline wasn’t provided, the Redmond company indicates that it’s working to offer Mango sometime in the fall of 2011.
