Curious about just how Internet Explorer 9 is unlocking the beauty of the web? Then the best place to get answers to all your questions is the Product Guide offered by Microsoft for the latest iteration of IE. Just as it is the case for the RTW bits, the Internet Explorer 9 Product Guide is available for download free of charge.

Customers need either Windows 7 and the built in XPS reader or Adobe Reader to view one of the two documents that they can grab from the Microsoft Download Center.

IE9 was released to web on March 15th, 2011, a week ago, offered in a total of 39 languages worldwide.

According to the software giant, there are four core focus areas with the IE9 development process:

“- Internet Explorer 9 is the most standards-compliant browser that we have ever shipped.

- Today, the average browser uses only 10 percent of the computing power that is available in a modern PC. Internet Explorer 9 unlocks the remaining 90 percent.

- Internet Explorer 9 is site-centric and meets users where they are today. The result is a clean user experience that puts the web first and lets your sites shine.

- Because the web still isn’t as secure or private as it should be, Internet Explorer 9 continues our industry leadership in building the world’s most trusted browser and providing you with a robust set of features to help protect you and your privacy while you are online.”

The IE9 Platform Preview builds have been downloaded in excess of 3.3 million times, a huge number considering that the releases were just the core of the browser designed for web developers.

There have been no less than eight platform previews of Internet Explorer 9 since March 2010 and until February 2011.

When Microsoft did launch its first public Build of IE9, the Beta, it was downloaded over 25 million times in only a few months.

Following the availability of the Release Candidate (RC) development milestone, the number of IE9 downloads jumped to as much as 40 million.
