The Gosselin drama is far from over, judging by the many interviews both Kate and Jon have given in the past months, with most of them making of this a he-said-she-said affair. Speaking in defense of his reputation as a good husband and in response to one of Kate Gosselin’s earlier interviews, Jon tells People magazine he too worked hard on their marriage, while stressing he will always love Kate even if, at the time, he happens to be in love with Hailey Glassman.

Earlier this week, mother of eight Kate appeared on Larry King and said that the divorce and the ensuing media scandal had finally taken a toll on her. She was lonely and upset, she admitted, but did not want to focus on moving on from her crumbled marriage, so she planned on focusing instead on the future of the eight children she had with Jon. At the same time, she seemed to be blaming Jon for being able to just dust himself off and then start all over again with another woman, a swing Jon now ducks gracefully in the latest People interview.

“I worked on my marriage. I went to therapy. I have huge bills so [detractors] can’t denounce that ... For [Kate] to say she’d been working on it – well, I’d been working on it too, and at one point in time I just gave up. There’s a point in time where you just say, ‘This is not going to work.’ So I just moved on.” Jon Gosselin explains. He also stresses that he did not become involved with girlfriend Hailey right away, because that would have been “inappropriate,” so they put off dating until Kate filed the divorce papers.

Speaking of the two, Jon vouches he will always love Kate despite everything and even if, at the moment, he happens to be in love with another woman. “I love Hailey.” Gosselin says. “I’ll always love Kate. I went through a whole bunch of pictures today, and it’s sad to see something that was good turn bad but we moved in two different directions. We know that. We move further and further apart because we’re so frustrated. But you have to understand reality TV. We can get in a fight today and have to do an interview tonight. I have no ill will toward Kate. She’s the mother of my kids. She’s a great mom. She does a lot for them.” he further explains.
