There is a new monitor on the way to retail stores, or at least those located in Japan, the Country of Sunrise, courtesy of none other than I-O Data.

The last time we wrote about an I-O Data LCD was back in February (2012), when the LCD-AD202X and the LCD-MF222E showed up.

Now, the LCD-MF274XVBR has appeared, though it is not precisely ready to step forth and prove its worth just yet.

That will only happen later this month, according to the company's announcement.

At any rate, this is one of those many LED-backlit liquid crystal display monitors, though the VA (vertical alignment) panel does make it somewhat more unusual than the rest.

Not all of its specifications are appealing though. In fact, people may wonder why the company would ask $442 / 339 Euro in exchange for it.

After all, even with a display size of 27 inches and viewing angles of 178 degrees (both horizontally and vertically), a response time of 12ms leaves quite a bit to be desired.

Granted, the overdrive mode reduces that number to 7ms, but that still has nothing over the “regular” 5ms of many monitors, and definitely nothing over the 2ms exhibited by certain high-end panels.

On the flip side, the Renesas Neo Clear Resolution single-frame ultra-high-resolution technology is utilized.

While the native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels is already nice enough, the above feature will further enhance image quality.

Other specifications include a brightness of 300 cd/m2, a contrast ratio of 5,000:1 (much better than the 1,000:1 people may be used to), a dynamic contrast ratio (DCR) of 80,000:1 and an ECO mode.

Finally, I-O Data gave its LCD-MF274XVBR a stand with height, tilt and swivel adjustment, plus D-Sub, DVI and two HDMI video inputs. A three-year warranty will be included in the purchase.
