Health officials from Los Angeles and San Francisco have come up with an original method (not to mention strange) of convincing males and females to get tested for any sexually transmitted disease.

This is how the www.inspot.org and www.inspotla.org sites, which allow users with a problematic sexual health to anonymously send their partners virtual cards which informed them on the potential venereal diseases he or she might have picked up during the last sexual intercourse, emerged.

"This is another opportunity for people to disclose STD exposure to partners because sometimes people don't always have that face-to-face opportunity, or that level of relationship. Partner disclosure is where we really have the opportunity to break the chain of HIV infection," Karen Mall, director of prevention and testing at the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, said.

Here are a few examples of such cards: "I got screwed while screwing, you might have too", ?It's not what you brought to the party, it's what you left with. I left with an STD. You might have too" and ?Who? What? When? Where? It doesn't matter. I got an STD and you might have it too".

The sites also contain detailed information on sexually transmitted diseases, on detected methods and it also provides users with a list of clinics they can turn to.

The idea is commendable, especially for the persons with a "more open-minded sexual behavior" who are not bold enough to tell their partners about their health problems, but there are doubts regarding the adequate use of the services, which could be used to send the cards thinking it's a joke.
