14 DAY TRIAL // Ever since Katie Price and Peter Andre announced they were getting a divorce, each dispute between them has been played out in the media. However, it’s worth noting that Andre has kept quiet until just recently, whereas estranged wife Katie publicly talked about everything from an earlier miscarriage, to suspicions of infidelity and communication issues within the relationship. For the first time, Andre is rubbishing most of these, in his column for New! magazine.
In recent interviews, Price hinted that her soon-to-be-ex might have “orchestrated” the divorce in such a way as to boost sales for his album because that was the only way he could have gotten his name in the media. Then, the glamor model also hinted that it was his wandering eye that caused their marriage to fall apart and even let it slip that so many rumors of his affairs eventually got the best of her and she started believing them. Katie should better have a look in the mirror before speaking of others, Andre says in his column for New!
“Apparently, she’s definitely dating that guy Alex Reid and he has been staying at her house, so she has moved on very quickly. Mind you, she’s been linked to so many men I can’t keep up!” the singer adds in the column, rubbishing the allegation that it was he who was to blame for the tear in the relationship. He, on the other hand, has kept his personal life out of the tabloids, and this is what he plans to do in the future as well, or at least until the divorce becomes final.
What Price is doing, this defamatory campaign against him that allows her to pursue her own financial interests, would be OK by him if it did not involve the children, Andre further explains. The singer says, in more or less words, that it’s alright if Katie attacks him directly because he can defend himself against that, but using the children against him is just plain wrong, and this is why he’s now speaking out about it, to have the truth out there.
“Kate has been putting me down for five and half years and it’s a real shame she doesn’t see fit to stop it now we’re not even together. She makes jibes at me constantly and it really upsets me that she uses the kids to do it. Kate... basically implied that I have orchestrated the whole thing. Can I just say that you’d have to be pretty sick in the head to end your marriage just to sell records! As if I would ever do something like that.” Andre further explains.
He then goes on to say that, indeed, some of the songs on his comeback album are inspired from trouble in the relationship, but they were not written with the purpose of talking trash about Katie. Quite on the contrary, he explains, he would have liked his estranged wife to listen to them and perhaps learn something from them.
