Reports that Kanye West was planning on calling his new album “I Am God” have been duly squashed but, as it turns out, they weren’t entirely erroneous. The title will be on the album because it’s the name of one of the songs.

The Huffington Post claims to have it on good authority that the rapper has picked the name “I Am a God” for one of the songs to illustrate “the idea was generally that all people are manifestations of a higher power.”

“We would never be so presumptuous or sacrilegious to call ourselves the supreme being,” a source close to Kanye and who, presumably, has worked with him on the album, says for the same media outlet.

That one of the songs will be called “I Am a God” seems to be confirmed by a tweet from Malik Yusef, a Kanye collaborator, who writes, “its ‘I am(A) GOD’ FAMO #psalms 82.”
