Ad that’s already viral should have never come out, the company says

A Hyundai ad showing a man trying to take his own life in his car emerged online a short while ago and has gone viral already. However, a rep for the company says they have no idea how it got out.

The commercial – which you can also see above in full – first popped up on YouTube and Twitter, and spread like wildfire.

CNN Money notes that many of those who’ve seen it weren’t as much offended by it as they were saddened, having already lost someone they loved this way.

Hyundai is sorry.

“The ad was created by an affiliate advertising agency, Innocean Europe, without Hyundai's request or approval. It runs counter to our values as a company and as members of the community,” the company says in a statement to the aforementioned media outlet.

“We are very sorry for any offense or distress the video caused. More to the point, Hyundai apologizes to those who have been personally impacted by tragedy,” the statement adds.
