As demand for NAND Flash chips grows, so must manufacturing facilities

Hynix may be a memory maker based in Korea, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have plants anywhere else in the world.

In fact, like so many other product manufacturers, it has facilities in China.

It so happens that the factory located in Wuxi, China, is going to start pulling its weight on the NAND Flash market.

So far, it has been used for making DRAM chips, but with that segment in such dire straits, no one will feel the loss if it starts making flash memory instead.

Then again, this switch isn't going to be a long-lasting measure, according to Digitimes.

Instead, it will last only until the company gets around to expanding the plant to make NAND in addition to DRAM, not instead of it.

Hynix is also considering the creation of a completely new 12-inch wafer plant, but nothing is certain yet.
