The zero-emission, lightweight motorcycle for entry-level riders

Another ‘green’ contender for the conventionally powered motorcycles could storm onto the market in the near future. Coming from BMW-owned brand Husqvarna, the Concept E-go bike has just been unveiled, promising to give beginner riders a chance to practice their skills without using a single drop of fuel.

In what BMW describes as an ‘extreme, light, streamlined’ two-wheeled machine, the Husqvarna Concept E-go blends road, off-road and supermotard capabilities.

The electric bike concept tips the scales at just 80 kilos (176 lbs) and reportedly features exclusive technical innovations such as the “ single sided double leg fork,” with 35 mm of  inner tube and the aluminium single side swing arm.

In addition to that, aluminum was also used to manufacture the battery support. The frame and oval piping is made from steel, while the seat is self-supporting.

This results is a short and compact two-wheeled electric vehicle, ideal for urban commuting, which the company says it will make riders feel like they are part of a videogame. Sounds exciting, doesn't it?

Husqvarna might have used a whole different approach in terms of performance, but the design gives it away. A single-seater machine with striking side panels and sporting a red-black-white paint scheme is what the brand has accustomed us with so far.

In fact, the concept takes many styling cues from the much awaited Husqvarna Nuda 900R streetbike that represents the BMW-owned brand’s first attempt of challenging the roads.

A recent Pike Research study investigating the future evolution in sales of such machines revealed that the number of electric motorcycles and scooters on the road will increase from 17 million in 2011 to 138 million by 2017. Taking this into consideration, Husqvarna’s concept is likely to make it into production soon.

Enthusiasts should expect to see the two machines - the Concept E-go and the Nuda 900R - up close and personal at the forthcoming EICMA Show in Milan this November.
