Over 100 million sharks are killed by people each year, the organization maintains

In the aftermath of “Sharknado,” odds are some people have reached the conclusion that sharks are vicious predators that must be killed before they get the chance to sink their teeth into whoever chances to cross their path.

PETA disagrees and says that, all things considered, humans are the most dangerous predators both on land and in the water.

This past weekend, the organization even got help from an airplane to spread the news. Thus, the aircraft flew from Chatham to Provincetown and then back down to Brewster while towing a banner that read as follows:

“Dangerous Predator in Water: YOU! Go Vegan.”

On its official website, PETA explains that little over 100 million sharks and billions other sea animals are killed each year for the sole purpose of being turned into somebody's lunch or dinner.

The organization completely disapproves of this practice and argues that people who eat the meat of these animals are not just cruel, but also more likely to suffer from various health conditions.

As dangerous as sharks can be under certain circumstances, “the killer heart attack that humans may suffer after they chow down on high-cholesterol fare such as lobster and shrimp” is “more dangerous,” PETA believes.
