14 DAY TRIAL // Love seems to know no age: 84-year-old Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner, also known as the Hef, has offered his number one, 24-year-old girlfriend the most wonderful Christmas present she could possibly dream of: an engagement ring.
Though he once promised he’d remain single because he didn’t want to go through another failed – his third – marriage again, it appears Hefner has had a change of heart.
On Christmas Eve, Santa brought Crystal Harris the most wonderful and unexpected present a girl could ever want, in the form of a diamond ring – an engagement ring, that is.
Hefner himself made the announcement on Twitter, saying Crystal burst into tears when she saw the present, but without making it very clear whether the ring was more than a simple diamond one.
As The Independent notes, the next day, Hef cleared that up, proudly announcing that, indeed, he was about to tie the knot for a third time in his 80s.
“After the movie tonight, Crystal & I exchanged gifts. I gave Crystal a ring. A truly memorable Christmas Eve,” Hugh first tweeted.
“When I gave Crystal the ring, she burst into tears. This is the happiest Christmas weekend in memory,” he added later.
“Yes, the ring I gave Crystal is an engagement ring. I didn’t mean to make a mystery out of it. A very merry Christmas to all,” he wrote the next day, as he saw people were still wondering about the meaning of the ring.
While news of the engagement is undoubtedly happy news, it does raise some interesting questions about what will happen to Hefner’s reality show, which focused on his trio of girlfriends.
“In the new year, there will be issues of romantic disentanglement and questions over the future of Hefner’s reality TV show, The Girls Next Door, which follows life at the mansion and the legendary womanizer’s relationship with a trio of girlfriends, who – as well as Ms Harris – include the 21-year-old identical twins, Kristina and Karissa Shannon,” The Independent notes.
So far, the Hef has said nothing in this sense. At the same time, a wedding date is still pending.
