As far as weird inventions go, the memory card that Huawei made doesn't really beat all the others I've seen in the past, but it ranks somewhere in the top half.

And that's because the new SD card is not, in fact, an SD card. After all, it doesn't have storage of its own. Still, Huawei advertises it as a wireless SD card.

Well, there's wireless support alright. 3G wireless, capable of 21 Mbps (HSPA+). It can accept a nano-SIM card, for cellular call support.

Huawei is trying to convince carriers to back this idea, but it's unclear if the newcomer will ever actually sell to a relevant extent. People only know about it because it was spotted by Engadget Chinese.

Essentially, the card could behave as a MiFi dongle (mobile Wi-Fi hotspot) when inserted in a laptop card slot. Normally, dongles like this would use a USB port, but this way, it will be freed for other things.
