Globally available in Q4 via carriers and major retailers

Discovery and Huawei have just announced their partnership that will bring Discovery Channel fans a new rugged mobile phone, the Huawei-Discovery Expedition.

This is the first Discovery-branded mobile phone available on the market and is expected to hit shelves in Q4 2011.

As all the rugged phones launched on the market, Huawei-Discovery Expedition is water-resistant, dustproof and anti-shock.

In addition, the phone offers outdoor enthusiasts GPS capabilities, a torch function, along with compass and G-sensor, which makes it the perfect took for travelers.

According to Huawei, the handset comes pre-loaded with social networking apps such as Facebook and Twitter, which provides users with the possibility to stay in touch with their friends while on the move, as well as Opera Mini for faster Web browsing.

Huawei-Discovery Expedition features a standard bar form factor and will be available in a black-orange color scheme.

The mobile phone comes with a rather small 2-inch display that supports 320 x 240 pixels resolution and is protected by Gorilla Glass.

Discovery already stated it will heavily promote the rugged phone through all its channels, as part of the Discovery Expedition line, the company's official lifestyle brand of Discovery Channel.
