Huawei, the largest networking and telecom equipment supplier in China, just announced through an email that it plans to launch an Android 2.2 device at this year's IFA event.

Set to start on September 3rd the Internationale Funkaustellung consumer electronics show (IFA) will run until September 8th.

Huwaei officials stated that the device will be launched one day before the IFA event will start, on September 2.

Even though is supposed to run the latest Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system, the device, codenamed Ideos, is low on the rest of the features.

Huawei U8150 (Ideos) comes with a small-sized 2.8-inch capacitive touch screen, an average 3.2-megapixel camera and a built-in GPS receiver.

Users will be able to access Internet through its WiFi 802.11n connectivity or by using the HSDPA network.

The device is powered by a 528 MHz processor, which barely places the smartphone into the mid-range category.

There's no other information about its specs or possible launch date, but we might see the device being available in UK by the end of the year.

While no price tag has been disclose by the manufacturer, officials stated that this “will be very attractive.”

This comes at no surprise as we're talking about a Chinese product, which is meant to drastically undercut competitor's prices.

Huawei and ZTE handset manufacturer are already hot on the heels of each other with their new line-up of Android smartphones.

According to a Gartner report, the former sold around 5.9 million phones worldwide, the latter reached the 5.5 million phones sold milestone, during Q2 2010.

This is a major improvement from the last year, when the two companies sold 2.5 million and 3.7 million phones, respectively, during the same period.

One can also notice that Huwaei and ZTE changed places, with the former coming in front with almost 400k more phones sold.
