Huawei promised to bring Android 5.0 Lollipop to many of its smartphones, including the Mate2 phablet. The update should be available for download in the first half of 2015, so as we're getting closer to the end of this timeframe, Huawei Mate2 owners are becoming more anxious.

Well, it looks like they have a real reason to be anxious because Huawei announced over the weekend that it will kick off an Android Lollipop user test for Huawei Mate2.

Those who want to join the beta program and test Android Lollipop on their Huawei Mate2 phablets can do so, but according to the Chinese company, only a limited number of users will be invited to test this preview.

“Earlier this year Huawei committed to update the Ascend Mate2 to Android L in the first half of 2015, and we are delivering on that promise. Starting today, we are inviting our community users to preview an early release of the new Mate2 software.”

Become a tester and help bring Lollipop on Mate2 faster

If you want to be part of the team that will test Android Lollipop for Huawei Mate2, you must leave a comment on the company's support website.

It's also worth mentioning that Huawei also confirmed that the final Android Lollipop build for Mate2 should be released sometime this month.

“Huawei will invite an initial group of Mate2 owners for this first stage of testing and then gradually expand the program as we get closer to the broader launch next month.”

The company also confirmed that it would continue to improve the software, even after the initial version is made available, in order to enhance user experience.

Hopefully, other Huawei smartphones will receive the long-awaited Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the coming weeks.

Until then though, Mate2 owner should stay tuned for any additional details on Android 5.0 Lollipop's upcoming release.
