Huawei Honor is among the first Android smartphones to receive the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade. The Chinese handset manufacturer already released a demo of the Android 4.0 ROM for the Huawei Honor earlier this year, and even confirmed that the phone was delivered with ICS on board in China.

The handset has already been launched in the United States and is now available for purchase via Cricket, as Huawei Mercury. However, the folks at UnwiredView have spotted the Huawei Honor at FCC (Federal Communications Commission).

It appears that the smartphone has just won approval for WCDMA 850/1900 bands, which makes it suitable for another US-based carrier, AT&T. It will be interesting to see whether the Chinese handset maker launches the Huawei Honor with Ice Cream Sandwich operating system through a major carrier.

Huawei Honor is a mid-range Android-based smartphone, which features a large 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

Currently, the phone is available in six color schemes: Glossy Black, Textured Black, Elegant White, Vibrant Yellow, Cherry Blossom Pink, and Burgundy. However, there’s no telling whether or not Huawei makes them all available at once.

Hardware-wise, Huawei Honor is powered by a single-core Qualcomm MSM8255T Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.4 GHz, which is complemented by an Adreno 205 graphics processing unit. It also packs 1GB of internal memory, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of ROM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

On the back, the handset boasts an impressive 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, while on the front there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls.

Currently, Huawei Honor is delivered with Ice Cream Sandwich on board only in China, but the handset manufacturer promised that existing owners would soon get an update.
