Chinese mobile phone maker Huawei is reportedly preparing the launch of a new high-end device as soon as June 24, and might release it as Huawei Honor 6, the successor of Honor 3X and Honor 3C, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

The handset already made an appearance online several days ago, when it was said to feature the codename of Huawei Mulan, packing high-end hardware capabilities.

As GSMInsider reports, the Chinese vendor already started teasing the new Honor device, during a press conference on Monday, suggesting that the phone will become official during an event set for June 24.

The mobile phone was suggested to hit shelves as Honor 6, supposedly capable of taking on flagship smartphones such as the upcoming iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6.

However, Huawei has not provided specific details on what the device will have to offer as of now, though some info on the matter did leak online last week.

Apparently, the Huawei Honor 6 will be powered by the company’s own Hisilicon Kirin 920 octa-core processor, which uses the big.LITTLE technology from ARM and which also packs Mali T628 graphics.

Huawei made the Kirin 920 processor official last week with a quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU offering support for clock speeds of between 1.7GHz and 2.0GHz, and with a quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU that can clocked anywhere between 1.3GHz to 1.6GHz.

Build using the 28nm manufacturing process, the processor was also unveiled with integrated multi-mode LTE Cat 6 radio, which would allow it to deliver data speeds of up to 300Mbps, as long as it is connected to networks that support carrier aggregation.

The Huawei Honor 6 (Huawei) should also sport 3GB of RAM, a screen that will deliver at least a 1080p resolution (the processor supports 2K 2560 x 1440 pixels and higher displays), and a 13-megapixel camera on the back.

A front camera should also be included in the device, along with the usual set of connectivity capabilities, and the entire set of common sensors.

The upcoming mobile phone is also said to run under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, though it should also include various software enhancements coming from Huawei itself.

Unfortunately, with no official confirmation on the handset’s capabilities, we’ll take the info above with a grain of salt for the time being. However, should the rumor on its near unveiling pan out, we’ll be able to learn all there is to know on the handset in about two weeks, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
