Imagine that you are in a meeting and you need an important website address which is in the favorites of your personal computer. What is the solution in order for this situation to be avoided? An online bookmark manager. You can choose from multiple websites that offer this service or you can use a script to use it on your server. And if it is free, then this is almost perfect.

The solution is online-bookmarks, which is a Bookmark management system to store your Bookmarks, Favorites and Links right in the WWW where they actually belong. All you need to make it work is a web server with PHP and MYSQL. And if you want to use the feature which downloads Favicons, make sure that you have installed ImageMagik on your server. If you don't know, Favicons is an icon associated with a particular website or webpage.

online-bookmarks supports: Deutch, Dutch, English, Slovene, Spanish, French, Polish, Hungary, Chinese, Italian and Turkish. If your native language is not supported, you can modify everything very easy and quickly by editing one file.

The folders are structured in depth. So you can organize categories and subcategories with the links you want to keep. The fields that are needed for the bookmarks are: title (name of the website), the link of the homepage, description, bookmark folder and the date when it was last modified.

If you have lots of bookmarks in your system browser and you don't want to lose them, use the import function to transfer them from your browser to your online-bookmarks account. In any case, you must first export the existing bookmarks from your browser to a file. Only after that will you be able to tell online-bookmarks which file to import. There are two basic formats that can be read by online-bookmarks. The first format reads exported files from Netscape, Mozilla and MS Internet Explorer and the second one reads Opera .adr files. If you import bookmarks with a different browser than the one you've exported them with, adjust the "from Browser:" setting.

In the archive, you will also find 2 very useful add-ons: one-click-integration and MySQL Authentication. By adding a button to your browser, it is possible to bookmark any homepage with one click, similar to the bookmark function of your browser. The title and URL of the corresponding homepage will be suggested. To add the mentioned button to your browser, open the settings of your online-bookmarks and drag the link marked with "--> bookmark
