Users making the transition from a Windows-based laptop to a Chromebook might find themselves in a bit of a struggle. If most Windows users know there’s the PrintScreen button for when you want to take a screen shot, things might look a little bit confusing when looking at the Chromebook’s keyboard, because there’s no dedicated key to achieve that end.

This particularity of the Chromebook keyboard shouldn't dishearten you, because as it turns out, it’s actually pretty easy to take a screenshot, once you learn the appropriate trick.

So in the case you need to take a snapshot of your entire screen, you will have to press the “Ctrl” and “Windows Switcher” button at the same time. It’s that easy.

However, if you need to take a shot of a specific area on the screen, you’ll have to add the shift key to the previous combo. Therefore, you’ll have to press Ctrl+Shift+Windows Switcher.

For those in the Dev Channel on Chrome OS, you’ll notice there’s a “Take screenshot” option available in the “More tools” drop-down, situated in the Chrome Menu.

After hitting the option, you’ll see the screen flash white. Subsequently, you’ll be receiving a notification saying whether the operation was a success or not. To view the screenshot, click on the notification to open the Chrome OS file manager.

All screenshots are saved as .PNG files and stored in the Download folder.
