For the "drink and drive" ones

While not judging whether a person under the influence of alcoholic beverages would listen to the voice of reason (if any voice at all) and ask for a taxi or a friend's ride, we introduce to you one of the most intriguing iPod accessories we've met in the last months: the iBreath Breathalyzer. Some people are having a rather hard time keeping driving and booze separate and that's why a lot of car accidents happen each year, with an impressive death toll. Despite laws and severe penal consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol, each day a lot of people get behind the wheels of their automobiles and drive.

Some make it home safe (most of them only to do it again the next time) while some hurt/kill other people and even themselves in horrible crashes.

Statistics claim that alcohol-related motor vehicle accidents kill a person each 31 minutes and injure one every two minutes; and this should be scary! Some say that if people who drink before driving could see how much alcohol they have in their blood, most of them would not get behind the wheel in that situation. iBreath Breathalyzer is a special device that can detect the alcohol concentration in a person's blood by analyzing the air pumped out from that individual's lungs as he/she exhales.

And the somewhat fun fact about the iBreath Breathalyzer is that you can power it by attaching it to the iPod, using its Apple connector. You need to take a deep breath and exhale for at least 5 seconds in the breath tube of the iBreath Breathalyzer. After analyzing a sample of your air for 2 seconds, this device will deliver the results via the LCD screen.

The iBreath will display your blood alcohol level in 0.000 - 0.100% BAC Range, giving you a pretty good info on whether you should or should not drive and risk a fine, accidents, jail or even worse, adding up to the obituaries in your local newspaper.

Now, we strongly advise that alcohol consumption and driving never be mixed. The iBreath Breathalyzer would be more fun when tried at parties with nobody having to drive... just to see how drunk you are when the cake arrives. Is it worth $79? You decide.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
