Photobooths are a fun thing to have at events, but they come with additional costs

Here’s something interesting. For those of you thinking of tying the knot with your significant other, a photo booth might be a fun way of keeping the memories fresh and alive, even after the event has passed. Don’t think you have enough money to squeeze that in, too? Don’t worry, there’s actually a way to get your photo booth without paying extra.

All you’ll be needing is a tablet, a tripod and a bunch of other accessories we’re going to be detailing below (via Whengeekswed).

The set-up will be constructed around a tablet with a front facing camera like the Samsung Galaxy Tab. You’ll also be needing a standard tripod, tripod sandbags (to help you stabilize it) and a tablet mount like the iStabilizer tabMount which can secure any tablets up on a tripod.

If you want your photos to look less amateurish, you’ll probably need to add good lighting to the mix too. In case you’re hosting the wedding (or any other special event you want to remember, for that matter) outdoors, that shouldn't be a big problem.

However, if the festivities are going to be happening indoors or at night, additional lighting will be a must (a spotlight and photography umbrella should be good enough).

Tap into your creativity when it comes to creating a backdrop, you can use everything from a simple curtain, to more stylized fabrics, and if you have some artist friends even better, you could ask for their help with that.

Last but not least, you’ll be needing a photo booth app, something which shouldn't be hard to find. There’s plenty of dedicated software out there and to give an example is the Party Photo Booth, which can be downloaded for $3.40 / €2.48.

This particular app will let user pick a photo strip template to which one can add the date and optional event name. There’s the option of choosing between the “Self-serve mode” which uses the front-facing camera and makes a photo booth-like timer appear or the “Photographer mode” which taps into the services of the back-facing camera.

The app makes it easy to share the snapped photographs via Facebook or Dropbox or to find the newest created photo strips located in your accounts.

Another app you could use is Wedding Booth (available for $9.99 / €7.28). This application allows users to create a board consisting of guest photos and guestbook messages, which is then saved onto to the device. It also has a special wedding theme.
