The Wedbush Morgan Securities analysts try to give us an answer

The analysts from Wedbush Morgan Securities did what they knew best. To speculate, that is.

They assumed that if Microsoft started to produce the Xbox 360 in August, with a rate of 100,000 units per week, then 2006, Microsoft will sell 2.5 million units of its last generation console.

Of these, 1 million of them will go to the Europeans, while the Americans will purchase around 1.5 million units.

In addition, Wedbush Morgan Securities considers that the factories which produce the technological wonder with which Microsoft hopes to take Play Station's "Bestselling console" award are not working at full capacity so, over the next months, they might even reach a weekly output of 130,000 consoles.

And since after these multiplications and additions, the Wedbush Morgan analysts were still in the mood to analyze, they approached the game sales aspect as well. In their opinion, any gamer who walks into a store to buy an Xbox 360 will also grab a couple of games. If the assumptions are correct, in 2005, Microsoft will gain $380 million from games.

Wedbush Morgan Securities has also detailed the current console situation. Play Station 2 has 51 million users in Europe and in the US, while Xbox is 18 million users ahead of GameCube, which has only 13.2 million users.
