The online video sharing service YouTube can be a useful source of content for your AppleTv and even for your iPod using a simple application. TubeTv was especially released to allow you to transfer YouTube clips on the Apple's devices with ease. Basically, all you need to do is to install the application and type the video's URL link and transfer the clip on your computer. Then, you can synchronize the data with your iPod through the famous iTunes. At this time, the program is compatible only with Mac OS X and can take videos from Google Video and from YouTube in the format compatible with iPods and AppleTvs.

"A built in search bar and web browser helps you conveniently locate your favorite videos, or, if you prefer, a URL can be pasted into the program to jump directly to a video clip. High quality video conversions using the H.264 codec are performed with QuickTime. Double clicking on a saved video file will open it in iTunes allowing easy library addition and syncing to your desired device. Note that TubeTV does not interact with iTunes directly - it's the same as importing any other video file to iTunes," it is mentioned in the description of the program.

If you want to install the program on your Mac OS X, you also need to install QuickTime 7.1.5 or higher and Perian 0.5 or higher. Perian is a QuickTime component that will bring the FLV compatibility to QuickTime, allowing the player to open this kind of video format.

Basically, the program is not too special because once you transfer a certain YouTube clip on your computer, you can put it on your Apple devices using the classic methods. However, you can try it for yourself and see if it can really help enhance the iPod's content.
