Personalize your mobile phone with a custom ringtone

The mobile device you carry around is more or less an object that represents you. As such, you might want to customize it with personal items and visual tweaks. When it comes to phones, the ringtone is the first customization element you look for and it mostly requires you to select the song you want to play when calls are received.

However, it only rings for about thirty seconds, time which might not be enough for the song to reach the part you want, and you need to do something about it, because your phone doesn’t.

Modern mobile phones can read popular audio file formats, so picking a file is not really an issue. There are several methods through which you can cut parts of songs to last just enough to alert you when receiving calls. Here are a few methods to easily create custom ringtones for any kind of phone.

Through Online Services

Step 1: Go to Songcutter.com or any other similar service.

Step 2: Drag one or more files over the target area.

Step 3: Adjust time either by dragging start and end sliders on the wave bar, or writing corresponding numerical values.

Step 4: Select MP3 or M4R format and hit Cut.

Note: This is just a basic method, with different alternatives like Makeownringtone.com letting you manage bitrate, fade effects, and more formats.

With Audio Editing Applications

Step 1: Download and install a dedicated application like Tipard iPhone Ringtone Maker or Ringtone Maker.

Step 2: Drag the file over the application’s interface.

Step 3: Position the highlighted area over the section you want.

Optional step: Hit the Play button for real time preview. This lets you adjust the area better.

Step 4: Pick the type of mobile phone you have.

Step 5: Select destination for the new file.

Step 6: Hit the Create your ringtone button and wait a few seconds for the file to be generated.

Note: The steps above apply for Ringtone Maker. However, you can check the image gallery for a demo on the other mentioned application as well. All that’s left to do is connect your phone, copy the file, and set it either as default ringtone or when someone in particular is calling.
