We're talking quite an online connection if it's going to support 4 players' riffs and frets at once

It wasn't long before Harmonix proved to the world that parting from the Guitar Hero franchise to make Rock Band was spelling success. Not only do they have what it takes to throw in everything that GH has and add even more delicious content and features, but the mere fact that it's going to require you to use more than just one peripheral and even your voice makes it a total winner. A preview on the game, courtesy of CVG, shows just how Rock Band is going to literally hammer down the GH franchise. Read on!

Basically, Rock Band does everything a lot better than previous GH installments, from the Fender peripherals to song originality. That's right, as the site informs to remedy the bad notes encountered in one of GH's songs "MTV and Harmonix have secured the support of five leading record companies to supply original master recordings for Rock Band. EMI Music, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group's Universal Music Enterprises, Hollywood Records and Warner Music Group's Rhino Entertainment are all signed up to allow their artists to be featured in the game and after a little research, we managed to break down just what this could mean in terms of potential tunes."

Which could be the following, as the same site informs: "Potential highlights include The Beatles, Smashing Pumpkins, Blur, Aerosmith, The Who, Guns N' Roses, Weezer, AC/DC, Weezer, Manic Street Preachers and literally countless others that deserve to make it into the game."

There will also be a Create Your Own Avatar feature. "Rock Band promises a suitably rich character creation tool with which to design and modify your own rock persona. This, coupled with the ability to form bands with other players, will no doubt lead to uniformed troupes and ramshackle groups in more or less equal numbers."

As for the Online Multiplayer, just think of how the slightest connection interruption could impact your band's performance (you know four of you will be able to go online as a band), so normally, the game will have to benefit from quite a good connection. Miss one note and you and your band will suffer, so it would be unthinkable for connection hiccups to occur.

Basically, this is it. Now, for all of the questions for which you're probably still waiting for an answer (no, we're not going to answer them), you'll have to wait for your own hands-on experience, which I reckon will be a blast. That's if the game doesn't freeze or brick your Xbox 360...
