Blake Lively of “Gossip Girl” fame has always been praised for her incredible figure. Considered by many the proud owner of the hottest pair of legs in showbiz right now, Blake has two great allies on her side: youth and good genes. However, for her part in the upcoming “Green Lantern,” she too had to put in some extra effort to tone up, as her trainer reveals for Us Magazine.

In other words, she had to work really hard to be physically prepared to do the challenging part in the hyped production, which also stars Ryan Reynolds, who is well known for his buff physique. This meant intense workouts almost daily, meant to increase strength and make the core stronger, combined with a healthy diet that prevented her from packing extra pounds.

“‘She always looks good,’ [personal trainer Bobby] Strom told Us of the Gossip Girl star, 22. ‘But she has to do stunts, so we’re focusing on core and strength training.’ Her workout routine includes four-day-a-week, 90-minute circuit training sessions full of planks, pushups and walking lunges in a gym near the film’s (out June 2011) New Orleans set. ‘She looked at her stomach and said, “I have abs!”’ Strom tells Us,” the aforementioned publication writes.

Of course, in order to get the best results, some changes also had to be made in Blake’s diet. “Oatmeal with a handful of blueberries, salads with chicken and balsamic vinaigrette for lunch and fish and veggies for dinner. (Lively also blends fruits and veggies with a juicer, and avoids noshing on too much dessert by eating just a ‘fork-full.’) Her food splurge: The 5-foot-10 actress loves to cook and eat Greek food. ‘You would not believe what she could consume,’ Strom says. ‘The Greek fest that she made... crepes with cream cheese in them... we could only eat half of it. She ate all of hers and then went back and ate somebody else’s half’,” Us further writes, citing Strom.

Directed by Martin Campbell on a screenplay by Greg Berlanti and Michael Goldenberg, “Green Lantern” also stars Peter Sarsgaard and Mark Strong, and is scheduled for release next year, as also noted above. In the meantime, keep an eye on this space for more on Blake’s part and the movie itself.
