News on one of my favourite games. Goody! An exclusive interview with Gran Turismo producer Kazunori Yamauchi in the June issue of French gaming mag Joypad revealed some juicy details about the upcoming installment of the driving simulator. For example, they'll be taking full advantage of the Playstation3's Cell Processor, and we all know how powerful of machine the PS3 is. Basically, Gran Turismo 5 will kick every driving sim's ass out there. And since the game is all about cars, here are some appetizing details, in regards to the cars, as youNEWB.com posts:

- All cars from Gran Turismo 4 will be in Gran Turismo 5, in addition to all Ferrari and F1 cars. - There will be downloadable cars and tracks. - The cars will take and show damage. - You, as the user, will have your choice of 4 driving views. - There will be new city tracks. - There will be online multiplayer, with 12-20 users being able to participate in any online race at a given time. - The weather can and will change, on some tracks, as you are driving through them.

Ferrari? We didn't get Ferrari with GT 4. What do you say? Impressed yet? Keep in mind that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Gran Turismo 4 had a huge impact with all its championships and added features (those driving missions however don't fit the GT style). Practically, a fierce GT fan will achieve 30% in a week or so, playing non stop. So you can imagine what GT 5 will be like, not to mention that it's going to be engraved on Blu-ray, allowing Poliphony Digital to throw in enormous quantities of content.

The site also says that the online races will be huge, which if I may add, I'm sure they will play a big role in the GT franchise from now on. Until now, it was pretty difficult to compete against someone not having to share the same TV set. I'm sensing the beginning of a new era for the GT series. Everyone keep fingers crossed !
