After weeks of speculation and heavy criticism, Nadya Suleman is making the first steps towards being a mother of 14. The Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Medical Center, where Suleman gave birth to octuplets in January, has just released two healthy baby boys to the mother, as she’s readying to receive home another pair come next week, People magazine can confirm.

Noah and Isaiah have been handed over to Suleman, or the OctoMom as she has come to be known in the media, after medical staff at the hospital noted that they were able to maintain their body temperature and gain weight. However, they did have to wait until the Child Services inspected Suleman’s new home in La Habra, a Los Angeles suburb, and stated that the house was child-proof and equipped with everything required to raise 14 children.

“This is a happy moment for everyone – the family, physicians, nurses and entire NICU staff. It is always rewarding whenever a premature infant goes home as a healthy baby.” Dr. Mandhir Gupta says for the aforementioned magazine. An official statement coming from the hospital also confirms that the heaviest, healthiest two babies of the lot have been sent home with their mother. Other two will reportedly leave the hospital next week.

“After several home visits, Kaiser Permanente determined that Ms. Suleman has safe housing, sufficient child care support and the supplies and equipment needed to care for the first two octuplets. The remaining six babies continue to progress well and remain at Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Medical Center. All continue gaining weight and remain on either formula or donated pasteurized breast milk.” the statement reads.

Suleman’s other six children, who are now still with their grandmother at her house, will reportedly move in the new house this weekend. The OctoMom, together with two recently-hired nannies, two pediatric nurses from the Angels in Waiting non-profit group and her own mother will then set out on the impressive task of raising 14 children. Suleman, though, would like to take it on all by herself, as she tells the same mag. “I’m anxious, but I’m ready. I’m excited to start getting all my family under one roof so I can get on with being a mother. I really want to do all this by myself.” Suleman explains.
