Until she provides proof that she can take care of them

If Nadya Suleman has had problems until now, she may have yet bigger issues to deal with in the future. The hospital where her premature octuplets are currently being held under observation might not release them to her if she can’t come up with irrefutable proof that she can provide for them as she should, Dr. Phil McGraw, who spoke with the OctoMom, is telling the LA Times.

Apparently, in case of a premature birth, Child Services are called by the medical staff to assess the situation of the parents, and this is precisely where the problem with Nadya lies. As it is already common knowledge, she now lives in a bungalow with her mother and her other six children, and will soon be left without a roof over her head as the house is up for foreclosure because Suleman’s mother is behind in payments – about ten months’ worth of it.

“What she is telling me is that unless and until she has a better living arrangement, that they are not likely to release the children to her.” Dr. Phil says for the aforementioned publication. It was Nadya who called him, the television personality further explains, desperate that she would not be allowed to take her eight children home, to the house in the LA suburbs. So far, Suleman has shot two episodes of Dr. Phil’s show, scheduled to air these days, and this was perhaps the reason why she thought she could take her problems to him.

The Associated Press tried to contact the Keiser hospital where the babies are held right now, but all it got in return was “Any conversations that the mother may or may not have had on this topic are private and we could not discuss them,” as Kaiser spokesman Jim Anderson put it. However, this is standard procedure, as Vicky Bermudez, a neonatal intensive care unit nurse at the Kaiser hospital, explains for the AP.

“If they feel there’s a risk to a baby, they contact Child Protective Services and Child Protective Services would make a determination as to whether or not there’s a reason for concern.” Bermudez shares.
