The rapid advent of USB 3.0 (SuperSpeed USB) is really starting to show these days, with more and more accessories' manufacturers adopting this ultra-fast data transfer technology, and that's also the case with Hornettek, who's just rolled out a product that will enable the easy and, more importantly, fast external connection of SATA HDDs to computers featuring USB 3.0 ports. The device in question is the Hornettek Slipper USB 3.0 SATA HDD Dock with One Touch Backup (indeed, that's a pretty long name), that delivers not only multiple connectivity options, but also backup capabilities, which is quite an important topic, all things considered. The device works equally well with 2.5 or 3.5-inch HDDs with SATA interfaces, and while its main connectivity option is the USB 3.0 port that enables data transfer speeds of up to 5 Gbps, it's also backwards-compatible with USB 2.0 interfaces, that, unfortunately, are capped to 480 Mbps. Another interesting feature provided by the Slipper is the hot-swap capability for rapid multi HDDs change, the dock from Hornettek also featuring a LED indicator for power on and HDD access. Additionally, as mentioned before, the device offers a One Touch Backup function that lets users easily backup files and data from a PC to an external hard disk. The Hornettek Slipper supports Window 7 / Vista / XP / 2000 operating systems and should find its way to just about any desk pretty easily, given the fact that it measures just around 178 x 127 x 50mm (approx.) and weighs roughly 243 grams. Last, but certainly not least, we'll have to point out that, despite its fairly evolved and attractive features, the Hornettek Slipper USB 3.0 SATA HDD Dock with One Touch Backup sells for just around 45 US dollars, which is quite an affordable price point, all things considered.
