Authorities from Hong Kong have arrested a 21-year-old man after he threatened to hack into a number of seven government-owned sites.

According to Channel News Asia, the suspect has been released on bail, but if he is found guilty, he might face up to five years in prison.

Reports from the South China Morning Post claim that the hacker may be part of the Anonymous community, but police have failed to confirm these suspicions.

Anonymous China made a lot of headlines back in April when the hacktivists defaced hundreds of websites to protest against the country’s government.

“Dear Chinese government, you are not infallible, today websites are hacked, tomorrow it will be your vile regime that will fall,” the hacker wrote at the time on the defaced pages.
