Season 3 of Showtime’s hit series “Homeland” came to an end the other night and, while you’re still mulling over the events of the big finale, here’s a bit of news about the upcoming season 4: 2 series regulars won’t be back.

TV Line claims to have it on good authority that original castmemembers Morena Baccarin and Morgan Saylor won’t join the cast on the set of new episodes, as their characters Jessica and Dana are no longer regulars.

“The move hardly comes as a surprise, as Baccarin’s Jessica and Saylor’s Dana appeared less frequently as Season 3 went on and Brody’s shattered home life became less of a focus. (The former’s real-life pregnancy also likely contributed to Jessica’s disappearance during the second half of the season.),” the e-zine says.

However, producers are not shutting the door on these two talented actresses, with the same insiders claiming that they are always welcome to come back “on a guest-star basis,” should they ever be so inclined.

After all, if it works for Diego Klattenhoff (Mike), it should work for them as well if they want it to.

At the time this got out in the press, Showtime was not available for comment, so it would probably be best if you took it with a grain of salt.
