The upcoming shooter is still alive and well

Homefront: The Revolution is still in development and won't go down the vaporware road as Duke Nukem Forever or Prey 2 did, according to publisher Deep Silver.

Homefront launched quite a few years ago and told a rather ambitious story of North Korea invading the US. The title arrived from Kaos Studios and THQ, but its lackluster sales figures led to the shutdown of the developer, forcing THQ to strike a partnership with Crytek for a sequel.

Bad luck followed, as THQ soon went bankrupt and Crytek, after buying the rights to the series, also experienced financial problems. As a result, the German company sold its UK studio, alongside the rights to Homefront: The Revolution, the sequel that was already presented to the world, to Deep Silver.

Homefront: The Revolution isn't vaporware

Now, not much has been heard about the new shooter, but this doesn't mean that it's going down the road of Duke Nukem Forever or Prey 2, two games that have been caught in development hell for quite some time.

Quite the opposite, as Deep Silver's Maurice Tan explains on NeoGAF that the game is still in development at Dambuster Studios, formerly known as Crytek UK.

"Homefront: The Revolution is still in development, now under our wing at Dambuster Studios. Sometimes we get questions from fans if it's going to be another Prey 2 or Duke Nukem Forever. But rest assured that the team at Dambuster is still working hard on the game and it's not going to be vaporware," he explains.

As such, fans should still look forward to the debut of the new game sooner rather than later. Hopefully, it won't end up like Duke Nukem Forever, which was eventually brought back to life by Gearbox Software but only ended up disappointing fans of the series.

Homefront: The Revolution is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One, at least according to the initial announcement.
