Residents of the Harrison Street in Santa Clara are not pleased with the colorful house

One resident of the oldest street in Santa Clara, California, has decided to paint his Victorian house in bright colors as a homage to Pixar's animated movie “Up.”

Hosam Haggog and Fatima Rahman spent more than two years renovating their home to resemble the colorful floating house from the 2009 children's film.

However, neighbors don't seem to be fans of the popular animation as they were not so pleased with the family's decision to redecorate their home that way, saying that it looks “like a clown.”

“I don't think it fits in with the neighborhood. It really, in my opinion, is atrocious that this Victorian is a gracious old lady and it's being painted up to look like a clown,” Lou Faria, a member of the Old Quad Residents Association, said.

According to NBC Bay Area, the property is one of several Victorian homes located on Harrison Street, near Santa Clara University, and homeowners there seem to prefer the original look and style.

The couple defend their decision explaining that they painted the house only to please their daughters, ages 3 and 1, who really love “Up.”

“We're not trying to create controversy,” Mrs. Rahman said. “We're trying to build a home for our daughters and our family. And that's what our intention was.”

“They love the movie UP and we just thought we'd give them something fun to be proud of - and actually all the kids in the neighborhood really love the colors.”

In the comedy-adventure movie, elderly widower Carl Fredricksen ties thousands of balloons to his home and sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South America.
